We are Lions of Judah, unique individuals, women who are younger, older, from small communities and large. We are from North America, South America, Europe, Africa and of course, Israel. We are all philanthropists, whether we think of ourselves that way or not. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and friends. We are brought together by a commitment to Jews around the world and the people of our community.
We can make a difference. We can lead politically. We can laugh at ourselves. We can envision the future, a Jewish future for the next generation.
We do what it takes to get the job done! We do more with less in these challenging times, and we are the engines that run. We do more than we realize.
The Lions of Sarasota-Manatee attend an annual Lion of Judah luncheon featuring a guest speaker or entertainment. Past venues have been the Ritz Carlton Beach Club and the newly built Sarasota Yacht Club. Already vital components of Federation’s Annual Campaign, Lions attending the luncheon have generously supported worthwhile projects impacting women, children and families. Past projects include Yesodot in Kiryat Yam, Israel a comprehensive enrichment program that gives immigrant children living in absorption centers a supportive learning environment to begin their new lives with hope and confidence and Orr Shalom, an organization providing residential and therapeutic services to children who have been removed from their homes due to severe abuse and neglect in Israel. Lions participate in other events which may be held throughout the year.
Lions of Judah are eligible to attend the bi-annual Lion of Judah Conference bringing 2,000 Lions together from across North America and Israel.
