NEW YORK, Jul 28, 2009 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A New York dietary-supplement company allegedly tricked Pfizer pharmaceuticals into buying an ingredient that wasn't kosher, a lawsuit charges.

Marco Hi-Tech forged a "letter of certification" from the Orthodox Union, the leading U.S. kosher-approval group, the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in New York alleges.

The lawsuit charges the Orthodox Union letterhead was used to make it seem Marco's grape-seed extract had received the group's stamp of approval, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Ultimately, Marco's grape-seed extract never made it into any of Pfizer's products, Pfizer spokesman Chris Loder assured the Post.
