There's a big difference between a corporate-run store and a local independent whose books are curated specifically for a community. Bookstore1 started with a commitment to provide the most interesting mix of books found and a program of literary events that would satisfy those hungry for a little intellectual exercise and that, on occasion, would provide a bit of joy with a well-turned line of poetry. Sarasota is a sophisticated city. She is loaded with the arts, theater, fine art, opera, symphony, dance - and Bookstore1 is here to ensure literary arts are just as available. Open: Mon-Sat 10am-9pm and Sun 10am-4pm.
